Res Artis Board

Background

The Res Artis organisation is governed by a Board composed of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and up to seven (7) ordinary members.

Members of the Res Artis Board are elected at the organisation’s General Meeting by the Res Artis membership. The General Meeting is held every two years with the next General Meeting being held in Montreal on 7 October 2010.

Each Board member is elected for an initial term of two years which can be extended up to a total of 4 terms (8 years).

The initial term for the new Board members will be from October 2010 until the General Meeting in 2012.

Additionally, our acting secretary, N’Goné Fall, and our vice president, Marijke Jensen will be stepping down from their respective positions. As a result, these positions will need to be appointed.

In accordance with the Res Artis by-laws, the Secretary and Vice President are nominated by the Res Artis Board and the nominations are confirmed by the Res Artis membership during the General Meeting.

The next Secretary and Vice President will be drawn from members of the Res Artis Board, including continuing members and also from the nominations received for Board members who will be elected at the General Meeting in October.

The roles of the Vice President and Secretary are critical to the success of the Res Artis organisation and play a strategic role in leading and managing the organisation, respectively.

They have the skills to represent and promote Res Artis at the highest political and institutional levels.

They do this by leading, shaping, and clearly articulating the Board’s responses to issues surrounding residencies.
